Salvage Sale hosted by Methow Recycles and WasteWise! 

When Peter Goldman and Martha Kongsgaard were ready to demo the building at 315 Riverside, they approached us to see if we were interested in going in before the demo to salvage any materials for resale. The building was an iconic part of downtown Winthrop and had plenty of still usable materials. We of course jumped on the opportunity and launched what we hope is the first of many salvage events under a new program, ReSource. Methow Recycles volunteers went in before the building was demolished and salvaged all usable materials. WasteWise helped to coordinate the project as well as provided roll-off bins to store the materials ahead of the sale. Materials salvaged from a separate project by Tim Smith and his crew will also be available for purchase at the Salvage Sale. The property where the sale will be held (723 Highway 20 Winthrop) is owned by one of our board members, Missy Le Duc and her family. They are graciously allowing us use of the space so there will be plenty of parking and a pull-through driveway. Basically, this whole thing was a really neat coming together of different stakeholders in the community to keep some really great materials out of the landfill. We're really excited for the sale! Folks should be sure to get there early to get the best pick!
